Overview

It will be held at the WorkForce Solutions Innovation Lab in Owensboro, KY on October 11-14, 2022 (Tuesday – Thursday).

The focus will be on how to apply the technology and make your job easier. These training sessions are divided into topics ranging from basic to advanced.

Instructor Bio’s

    Kevin Guy

Kevin R. Guy is a Senior Field Analyst for Delaware Analysis Services, Inc., and the former President of C J Analytical Engineering Inc., a company specializing in predictive maintenance and advanced vibration analysis. He has 43 years’ experience involving advanced vibration analysis and predictive maintenance. Kevin’s experiences have been published in over 80 articles including editorials, papers, magazine articles, case histories, and a Power Industry Case History Book.

Kevin has recently completed six books including Introduction to Vibration Data Collection and Analysis (Category I Vibration Specialist Training), Vibration Analysis and Instrumentation Setup (Category II Vibration Specialist Training), Balancing of Rotating Equipment, Turbomachinery Analysis, Practical Rotor Dynamics as an Analysis Tool (Category IV Vibration Specialist Training), and Advanced Vibration and Modal Analysis (Category IV Vibration Specialist Training).

Kevin holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering Technology from Purdue University and is a member of the Purdue MET Department Industrial Advisory Committee. He is a life member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (A.S.M.E.). Kevin has taught Vibration Institute Category I through Category IV certification courses along with the Balancing Certification Course for 30 years and has served as the Vibration Institute Training Chairman.

Presently, Kevin is the Category IV instructor for Emerson Process Management, teaching classes on turbine analysis, rotor dynamics, and advanced vibration analysis. Additionally, he is teaching Category I and Category II accredited vibration courses, along with balancing courses at Owensboro Community and Technical College. Kevin served as a member of the Vibration Institute Board of Directors for 22 years. He served on the MFPT Board of Directors and the Board of Editors of the Shock and Vibration Digest. Kevin is a Vibration Institute (ISO-ANSI) Certified Category IV Vibration Analyst.

    Dave McFate

Dave joins Alta Solutions in the role of Technical Support Coordinator.

Dave holds an Associate’s Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology earned through The Electronics Technology Institute, Cleveland Ohio, graduating with honors in 1984. Dave was recruited directly from this engineering program by Gould Instruments, Cleveland OH. Initially hired as a bench technician supporting the Technical Support Department, Dave was promoted to full Technical Support Specialist duties in 1986.

Dave has held Technical Support responsibilities for instrumentation products continuously for over 33 years supporting both industrial and clinical / research medical applications. His 21 year tenure with GOULD Instruments continued through 2005 when he accepted a Sales Support position with IOtech, Bedford Heights OH. Upon joining IOtech he expanded his application expertise to encompass Machinery Vibration and served as the primary support resource for IOtech eZ-Series Vibration Monitoring and Analysis products. He successfully earning certification as a Category II Vibration Analyst through the Vibration Institute, Oak Brook, IL in 2005. He completed requirements for Category III certification in 2006 and continues to maintain this certification.

IOtech was purchased by National Instruments (NI), Austin, TX, and Bedford Heights operations were closed in 2010. Dave was offered a transfer to National Instruments, accepting a position as a Staff Field Applications Engineer. He maintained a remote office in Valley View Ohio, reporting to Austin. In this role Dave continued to support the international IOtech user community and also assisted NI engineering in development of, and support for NI’s InsightCM Fleet Monitoring Platform. He was promoted to Senior Field AE in 2016. Dave and his wife Fran moved from suburban Cleveland to Linden, Tennessee (population 998) in 2015, without regrets.

NI reorganized Field Applications in 2017 and Dave’s position was eliminated. As part of the separation agreement, Dave was granted non-exclusive rights to the IOtech trademark and product identifiers, and was encouraged to form his own company dedicated to providing continuing support for the IOtech user community. McFate Support Services Inc. was incorporated in the State of Tennessee in April, 2017.
